Heimat meines Herzens

Went for a walk in the neighbourhood I grew up in on a beautiful summer night this Labour Day weekend and it reminded me why I love this place so much. The streets are wide and lined with towering trees whose branches meet way up above your head in the middle of the road. People you meet smile and nod a hello. You can see the stars and smell fresh cut grass, barbeque and bonfires where you know kids are roasting marshmallows. I turned the corner by my old Junior High and saw the sky light up with dancing northern lights. I could lay in the grass and watch that forever. Everyone should see a sky lit up like that at least once in their life. Even my iPod was glad to be home and shuffled right onto Fireworks by The Tragically Hip.
I’ll finish this post off with words stolen from Mike on his and Moni’s last night here (I think this is the best toast I’ve ever heard):

To leaving Winnipeg being as good as coming back.

Cheers.
